concert:nova’s vision

We are an experimental and exploratory chamber ensemble that performs traditional and contemporary classical music. Partnerships with dancers, actors and artists bring a unique visual dimension to our performances, illustrating musical works in a modern and dynamic way.

Comprised of Cincinnati Symphony and Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra musicians, we aim to break down barriers between audience and performers, inviting guests to take a step closer for a more intimate and engaging concert experience.

Our Vision:
concert:nova creates cross-disciplinary interpretations of brilliant works, takes them to non-traditional performance venues, and transports audiences outside the “music box”.

A Unique Point of Entry:
We are dedicated to the inter-artistic exchange of ideas to give audiences new way to appreciate classical music. By staging events in galleries, museum, restaurants, lounges and found spaces that appeal to contemporary audiences, we integrate the music into the community landscape. We create musical experiences that are provocative, compelling and relevant to today’s world.

  1. I would appreciate being directed to an internet website with the most up-to-date information on your projected 2010-2011 season.

    THanks.

  2. This sounds like a very new and exciting approach. Just out of curiosity, do the audiences talk during your performance? If so, have you grown accustomed to this?

I’d like to try something similar in my neck of the woods, so I’m curious as to what sort of environment is setup at a restaurant.

  3. Hi Frederick, I just saw your comment today (no notification came in September!). I hope you were able to find our website at http://www.concertnova.com!

Ralph, the audience usually makes no noise, it’s like a house concert, except at a restaurant. Sometimes a wine glass will clink or a chair will scrape. I find most of the noise comes from either a kitchen nearby, or the buzzing of a light fixture, or street noise. It’s a warm, friendly atmosphere in which to perform, and you get to enjoy food and good company afterwards.

    Thanks both for writing,
    ixi

  4. Ixi, I had to laugh at Mr. Kendrick’s question and your reply, so apt.

At Redtree, at one point I thought I heard a siren, but I wasn’t absolutely sure if it was outside or inside (something one of the musicians was making).

All just part of the natural magic of c:n!
